GENESIS. A sculptural light installation by artists Lucinda Bliss, Rebecca FitzPatrick and Shoshannah White. Genesis was first installed, as a site-specific piece, at the Sacred & Profane Festival on Peaks Island in the fall of 2011. The piece, in the context of the WW II Battery Steele, spoke to emergence and renewal in the face of destruction and deterioration. Revisioning the piece for Rose Contemporary, we developed a new lighting system and brought in additional elements in order to build on our interest in the primordial, in birth, and in transformation. On view during the month of January, beginning First Friday Art Walk, January 6.
